Images You Submit

When you upload a photo for rock or mineral identification, the image is transmitted to our servers over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) for AI analysis. We process the image to generate your identification result and then discard it. We do not permanently store uploaded images. Images are held in memory only for the duration of processing and are not saved to disk, databases, or any long-term storage system.

We do not use your uploaded images for marketing, advertising, training, sharing with third parties, or any purpose other than generating your identification result.

  • Contact information: If you email us at support@rockidentifier.io, we collect your email address and the contents of your message to respond to your inquiry.
  • Subscription information: If you purchase a subscription through the iOS or Android app, payment is processed by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store your credit card number or payment details directly.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage data: We may collect your device type, operating system, browser type, screen resolution, language preference, and general usage patterns (pages visited, time spent, features used). This data helps us improve the Service.
  • IP address: Your IP address is collected with each request for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention purposes. IP addresses are not linked to your identity or uploaded images.
  • Crash and performance data: The mobile app may collect anonymous crash reports and performance metrics to help us identify and fix bugs.

Cookies and Tracking

The website uses a small number of cookies for essential functionality:

  • Rate-limiting cookie: Tracks your free scan usage to enforce the daily limit. Contains no personal information.
